emirates stakes dayEmirates Stakes Day is the final day of the 2016 Melbourne Cup Carnival and takes place on Saturday 5th November 2016 at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne.

Gailo Chop wins Emirates Stakes

France based galloper Gailo Chop won the most recent edition of the Emirate Stakes last November, when run as the Mackinnon Stakes.

Trained by Antoine de Watrigant and ridden by Ben Melham, Gailo Chop defeated Rising Romance and Contributer in a time of 2:03.56.

The move to the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival makes this year’s Emirates Stakes the ideal follow-up for horses contesting the Group 1 Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
