The 2016 Crown Oaks takes place on the third day of the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival on Thursday 3rd November 2016 at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne.
A $1,000,000 Group 1 race for fillies only and raced over 2500 metres, the Oaks is the female equivalent of the 2016 Victoria Derby for colts & geldings, which is held on the first day, Victoria Derby Day.
The Crown Oaks is the premier distance race for three-year-old fillies in Victoria and takes place on ‘Ladies Day’ at Flemington.

Three days later the 2016 Melbourne Cup takes centre stage on the Tuesday, before the 2016 Crown Oaks follows two days later on the Thursday.
